Frequently Asked Questions
Everything about tracking inventory, documenting valuables, and getting insurance-ready with AssetFIND.
Getting Started
What is AssetFIND?
AssetFIND is an inventory tracking app that helps you log, locate, and prove ownership of your items using photos, categories, locations, and reports.
How do I add an item?
Go to Home → Add Item. Choose what you're adding:
- Individual Item (single object)
- Box/Container (a grouped container)
Then fill out the item details and tap Create Item.
What's the difference between an Individual Item and a Box/Container?
- Individual Item = one specific item you want to track separately (Example: "Bike")
- Box/Container = a container holding multiple items (Example: "Box 3: Holiday Décor")
Use containers when you're packing, moving, organizing storage, or managing properties.
Can I add an item using a photo?
Yes. On the Create Item screen, AssetFIND can use AI and Auto-fill from Photo:
- Camera (take a photo now)
- Upload (use an existing photo)
This speeds up item entry and helps reduce typing.
Organization
How do I organize items by location?
When creating (or editing) an item, assign it to a Location such as Basement, Storage Units, Warehouse, Other, or create your own with Add New.
Can I track quantity for an item?
Yes. Every item can have a Quantity value with + and - controls.
Great for tools, supplies, consumables, and sets of items (plates, chairs, towels, and more).
What do item statuses mean?
Item status helps track where something is in the real world. Examples include Stored, Packed, In Transit, and Unpacked.
This is especially useful during moves, renovations, or storage unit organization.
Value & Documentation
What is "Declared Value" used for?
Declared Value lets you record a dollar amount for an item for insurance documentation, ownership records, and personal tracking.
Your Reports screen totals these values into a single inventory number.
What is the Insurance-Ready Report?
The Insurance-Ready Report is a complete report designed for claims and proof of ownership, including photos, values, and item details. This feature requires Personal Pro or higher.
What is the PDF Asset List?
The PDF Asset List is a clean export you can generate from Reports for documentation and record-keeping.
Use it for insurance, estate planning, business documentation, and moving inventories.
Reports & Export
Where do I see my inventory summary?
Go to Reports to view storage overview, item status breakdown, total inventory count, and total declared value.
Can I export my inventory to CSV?
Yes. CSV Export is available on upgraded plans. If your plan doesn't include it, you'll see Upgrade to Export.
Can I share my inventory with someone else?
Yes. Share Inventory List is available on Personal Plus and above — useful for movers, a spouse, an assistant, or an insurance contact.
Plans, Storage & Sharing
What counts as an item toward my plan limit?
An "item" is anything you create in AssetFIND: Individual Items, Boxes/Containers, and containers with items inside them. Photos, documents, and labels do not count as items.
How many workspaces can I have?
- Personal Starter: 1
- Personal Plus: 2
- Personal Pro: Unlimited
- Business plans: Unlimited
What happens when I hit my item limit?
You can still view and search your inventory, but you won't be able to create new items until you upgrade or delete old ones.
Workspaces & Teams
What is a workspace used for?
Each workspace is a separate inventory world. Examples include Home, Storage Unit, Rental Property, Office, Warehouse, or project-specific inventory.
Can I track assets across multiple locations or properties?
Yes. Use separate workspaces for each home, office, storage unit, or rental property, and assign locations within each. You can move items or containers between workspaces anytime.
Can I invite team members and control what they can do?
Yes. Under Settings → Team & Roles you can invite users and assign roles:
- Owner — full control
- Admin — manage members and edit items
- Editor — create and update items
- Viewer — read-only access
- Guest — view-only share links
QR Labels & Documentation
Does AssetFIND support QR codes?
Yes. You can print QR labels directly from AssetFIND and place them on items or boxes for fast scanning.
What happens if an item is lost or I need to file an insurance claim?
Generate a report from the Reports screen with photos, values, and item details — formatted for proof of ownership and insurance adjusters. Documenting before something goes wrong is the whole point.
Billing & Trial
Is there a free trial?
Yes. Upgraded plans include a 14-day free trial. You can cancel anytime before the trial ends to avoid being charged.
How do upgrades work?
Upgrades happen instantly and you keep all your data, items, and photos. If you upgrade mid-cycle, you only pay the difference.
Can I downgrade later?
Yes, as long as you're within your new plan's limits (items, storage, team members). If you exceed a limit, AssetFIND tells you what needs adjusting.
Security & Privacy
Is my data safe and private?
Yes. Your item data, locations, and photos are stored privately in your account. You control who can view or edit your assets, and shared links never expose your full workspace.
What happens if I delete an item?
When you delete an item, it moves to Recently Deleted where it's kept for 10 days before permanent removal. You can restore it if you change your mind.
